Custom Drop Cloth Curtains

Custom Drop Cloth Curtains

In our little laundry room space, doing the same thing day after day... I knew this space needed inspiration. Since the theme is Norman Rockwell it was completely fitting when I found this wonderful quote from Rockwell. I wanted it hand written, but consistent (my hand writing is not all that great, in my opinion), a little faded, but long lasting.

Here's the Tweak:

When using the drop cloth the outside edges are already seemed. So cut your drop cloth to length first adding at least an extra 1/2 inch seam allowance for the bottom.

On the top I wanted mine draped over my hanging wire.  When determining yours decide if you will slide curtain rod through it? If so make sure you leave enough length for that as well as again that seam allowance.

Then cut your cloth in half for two panels. Add 1/2 in seam to each cut edge.

Now all the logistics are completed lets do the fun stuff...

Create your text file in your desktop publishing file. I used Microsoft Publisher.

Connect to an overhead viewer. (Churches, Youth Groups, and classrooms typically have them if you do not).

This one has a pull down screen on the wall. I left the screen up and thumbtacked my drop cloth directly to the wall.

Krylon Black paint pen. Trace words directly onto drop cloth.

I was amazed at the simplicity of this project.

Washed it a few times to give it a more faded look.

Daily Inspiration hanging on my windows.

Happy Tweaking!
